Troy Aikman Sums Up Cooper Institute Findings

Clarence's First Trip to the Cooper Clinic

Years of research by the Cooper Institute has documented the power of exercise by studying people like Carol and I over many years. I have been to the Cooper Clinic 20 times starting at age 50 and Carol has followed in my footsteps in her own way.

Jarett D. Berry, MD, Principal Research Consultant at the Cooper Institute says their work represents one of the largest clinical registries with more than 100,000 patients followed for decades.

Troy Aikman, a long time supporter of the Cooper Institute, sums up their findings:

"What have we learned? Whether you are an astronaut, an elite athlete or individual who simply works out daily to stay in shape, research from the Cooper Institute reinforces the benefits of physical activity. Individuals who are fit at mid-life are less likely to develop Alzheimer's, have 40% annual health cost savings, and lower cardiovascular disease in later life.

Ultimately, increased fitness decreases the risk of dying by 58%. Thanks to this research, we know the power of prevention and how we can live longer, healthier lives."

I had forgotten the completeness of the exam. Prokop covers everything. His article is long, but well worth your time. It is especially timely when combined with Troy Aikman's summary of the Cooper Institute findings on the benefits of physical activity.

Dr. Arnie Jensen, shown here in a photo by Justin Joseph, came to Albuquerque to persuade me to come to the Cooper Clinic for testing--and had me back many times without charging me a penny. He became a dear friend. We miss his many telephone calls after he left the Cooper Clinic.
